HTC is holding a press event on September 19 in New York and it was widely thought to be the stage where the Taiwanese smartphone vendor would introduce its first Windows Phone 8 devices including the Accord. However, it seems like the Accord won’t be the only thing we will see on that day. CNET is pointing towards rumors that HTC could also show off two tablets that could include a successor to the Flyer and a 10.1-inch tablet with an off-center display that was leaked a few days ago.
HTC had given up on tablets after the Flyer but had promised it had not abandoned the form-factor entirely. The Flyer 2 is expected to have a design inspired by HTC’s One Series and feature a 7-inch 1,280×768-pixel display, a 3-megapixel camera on the rear, and a 1-megapixel front-facing camera. It would run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 processor.
If the leaked shots of the 10.1-inch tablet turn out to be legit, HTC might have a game changing design on its hands. To be honest, it looks like a miniature iMac display with the rear camera on the lower part and an off center display, which we believe would help users hold the tablet comfortably in portrait mode. We cannot vouch for the authenticity of the pics posted by Twitter user @evleaks, especially considering one of the shots had Apple’s stock iPad wallpaper. However, leaked photos of the Lumia 920 and the Lumia 820 posted by the same handle turned out to be legit, we are hopeful these would be authentic.
HTC could also announce an Android phablet with a 1080p display. Initially headed to Verizon, we are quite certain it would be announced globally too.
