LG to launch Optimus Vu globally in September

LG today announced it will launch the 5-inch Optimus Vu ‘phablet’ globally in September. First unveiled at MWC in February this year, the hybrid smartphone will be launched in parts of Asia, Latin America, Middle East, Africa and Europe in September. This comes after LG sold 500,000 units of the LG Optimus Vu in Korea.
The LG Vu sports a 5-inch display with a 4:3 aspect ratio and a resolution of 1024×768 pixels, an Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 32GB of memory, an 8-megapixel camera and a 1.3 megapixel-front facing camera. It runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
Like Samsung’s Galaxy Note, LG has added some note taking applications like Quick Memo and Notebook to utilize the large display of the device. While LG is launching the device in September, Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy Note II on August 29, before IFA, so one can be certain that LG Optimus Vu will have some stiff competition.
