Nikon has launched the D600 which becomes the world’s smallest full-frame DSLR camera on the planet. The DSLR features a 24-megapixel sensor, Expeed 3 image processing engine, uncompressed video output via HDMI, a magnesium frame, and the same water resistance as the D800. Nikon claims that the Expeed 3 chip helps click photos 20 times faster than the D700, but it also improves the dynamic range and color reproduction.
Other features of the D600 include 1080p and 720p recording at 30 frames per second but there is time cap of 29 minutes and 59 seconds. It has a standard ISO range of 100 to 6400, but once the user enables “Lo” and “Hi” one gets an ISO range between 50 and 25600 and a 5.5fps continuos shooting mode. It also has a 39-point autofocus system and there even is a Wi-Fi dongle that lets the user control the D600 via an smartphone app. The companion app is already available for Android and the iOS version should be coming soon.
The D600 has been designed for the new FX system and lenses, however it is fully backward compatible with existing DX lenses which target the smaller APS-C sensor size. Using DX lenses, the camera switches to cropped mode with a maximum resolution of 10.2-megapixels.
The Nikon D600 is scheduled to hit the market next week for Rs 1,35,950 body only or Rs 1,63,950 with a 24-85mm VR lens kit.
