Ahead of its September 5 announcement, Nokia seems pretty gung-ho about its new products and has laid out a warning to Samsung. Nokia’s executive VP of sales and marketing, Chris Webber took to Twitter and called out Samsung to ‘take note’ the upcoming Lumia phones.
Samsung take note, next generation Lumia coming soon. #nokia— Chris Weber (@CWeberatNokia) August 16, 2012
Nokia was formerly the worlds number one smartphone manufacturer in the world for 14 years, till Samsung usurped it earlier this year. Nokia was once the leader the market, but over the last year it has seen its smartphone marketshare to drop down to 6.6 percent.
Clearly, Nokia feels pretty confident about its new products. While we are not sure about Nokia’s new found confidence, the one thing we can say is that with Windows Phone 8 lifting the hardware restrictions, Nokia smartphones will be on a level pegging with its Android brethren. Additionally when one takes into account Nokia’s famed industrial design skills and unique camera technology, Nokia could be onto something. However, that still does not guarantee Nokia defeating Samsung or even Apple, in the smartphone game.
