Car maker Renault on Friday launched its Sedan Scala, the last of its range of five cars that it had promised to unveil in India by the end of this year. Based on alliance partner Nissan’s global success Sunny, Scala is priced at Rs. 6.99-7.85 lakh for the two petrol
variants and at Rs. 8.69-9.57 lakh for the two diesel versions.
“With the launch of the premium sedan Scala, Renault India is now present across segments of the Indian car market with products which meet our customer expectations and aspirations,” said Marc Nassif, managing director, Renault India. “We are late entrants in this market but nobody can say that we are slow. No company has launched five products in a span of just 14 months nor has any company achieved sales of 30,000-35,000 units in the first full year of operations.”
Renault sold less than 4,000 cars in fiscal 2011-12 but is targeting an over 9-fold increase in sales this year and an over 3-fold increase next year to cross 100,000 units per annum by 2013.
