Though Sanjay Leela Bhansali is busy with his next directorial venture Ram Leela, he is also strongly functional as a producer. After producing the super-hit Rowdy Rathore and yet to be released Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi, Bhansali is now all set to produce a film based on the life of the Olympic Bronze medal winner MC Mary Kom. The said film will be directed by the renowned Art Director Omung Kumar.
Omung Kumar, who had earlier worked with Bhansali on Black and Saawariya, approached him with a detailed script based on the life of MC Mary Kom, after acquiring the required permission from her. Bhansali said that Omung brought the script to him a month before the Olympics. The film talks about how Mary, despite being a mother of two and having been through so many struggles and hardships, became a world champion. Bhansali added that he was totally moved by the real life story of a rare Indian woman boxer. He also added that it will be an exciting film (for him) to produce. Ironically, Bhansali will be meeting Mary for the first time on August 23 in Mumbai.
While the untitled film will be going on floors by year-end or early next year, its casting is still undecided.
